Marc Buckley is a highly influential figure in the field of climate activism, sustainable development and global change with a long history of involvement in climate and environmental issues. Marc takes a systems view of life and addresses all facets of complex systems in order to solve human suffering and our global grand challenges. As the author of the UN Sustainable Development Goals Manifesto and a collaborator on the Resilient Development Goals (2030-2050) with the UNFCCC and Resilience Frontiers as UN Advisor and Regenerative Futurist, he has been at the forefront of shaping our global sustainability agenda.
Marc’s extensive expertise in Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) principles is recognized through his pivotal role as a member of the EU ESG Taxonomy PSF Commission, as part of a select group of 40 experts, influencing environmental policies worldwide and advocating for future-fit models of society and governance. He speaks on ESG, CSRD, HRDD, CSDD, and DPP, emphasizing the importance of future-fit governance models.
He is a Board Member of the Dubai Future Foundation, Friend of the Future Forum, Chair of the UNFCCC Innovation Hub High-Level Working Group, GAIA Global Artificial Intelligence Alliance, and actively contributing in 5 high-level expert groups of the World Economic Forum, including WEF’s Impact Circle on Artificial Intelligence (AI).
He is actively involved in several United Nations groups, notably the Climate Change Secretariat UNFCCC.
He is a Regenerative Futurist, actively assisting organizations worldwide transform to be future fit.
As the author of the Liveability Thesis for the Sustainable City Neom and a Founding Member of the UNFCCC Resilience Frontiers, Marc focuses on the Resilient Development Goals for 2030 to 2050. He partners with organizations like the Ecosystem Restoration Camps, the Gaia Trust Global Eco-village Network, The World Academy of Arts and Science, and serves as a UN Ambassador for UN HS4A.
He is an expert in Regenerative Agriculture and sustainable built environments, actively creating ecological civilization frameworks. As a Global Food Reformist he is dedicated to reforming the agriculture, food, and beverage industry through impactful projects and moonshot companies. This includes teaching and speaking about climate change and food reform worldwide.
